Seanad sits for first time in wake of referendum

Opposition senators are expected to bring forward concrete plans for reform in the wake of Friday's vote to save the upper house.
"What has to happen now is that everyone puts their proposal on the table," said Senator Fidelma Healy Eames.
"We are hoping in the Seanad for support from across the houses in line with what the Irish people have requested - and it will be interesting to see how that goes in both houses."
The Reform Alliance of Fine Gael rebels will ask both the Dáil and Seanad to set up a new committee to examine the reform plans.
