Rabbitte: Labour fortunes connected to fortunes of economy

Mr Rabbitte said his party will not be forced from the political landscape and will not suffer the same demise as the Green Party.
They are in Meath today for a second day of pre-Dáil talks where they will continue to push for an easing on austerity in next month's Budget.
The coalition partners have come under repeated fire since taking office more than two years ago for breaking pre-election promises in relation to cuts.
Minister Rabbitte said the party's success will be dictated by the economy.
He said: "I think Labour's fortunes are directly connected to the fortunes of the economy.
"I think there are social issues that matter, and social achievements that Labour has won in government.
"But at the end of the day, it is about the standard of living, it is about putting people back to work, it is about the economy of recovery."
