37% of foreign nationals working in 2011 - CSO figures

Only 37% of foreign nationals living here were working in 2011.

According to new figures from the CSO, of the 1.15 million (1,148,800) over 15s who were given PPS numbers between 2002 and 2011, 310,000 recorded some employment here during 2011.

The research also shows that the number of PPS cards given to foreign nationals dropped to 67,500 the same year, or about 30% of what figures were at their 2006 peak of 226,800.
