Rank and file gardaí reps to start talks on proposed pay cuts

The executive council of the Garda Representative Association begins a two-day meeting this morning to discuss proposed cuts to its members' pay.

The GRA, which represents rank-and-file members of the force, has refused to engage in talks about any new Croke Park deal which involves reductions in salary.

The organisation gathers today and tomorrow after a number of its local branches gave their support to "blue flu" action this week and voted no confidence in both the Justice Minister Alan Shatter and the Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan.
