Patients Association wants regulators to investigate nursing home report
on 25/01/2013 07:52:45
The nursing home in Co Leitrim was found to have had 'Do not resuscitate' orders in some patients files.
HIQA found the 'Do not resuscitate' orders were never discussed with the patient or their family.
The home was taken over by the HSE at the beginning of this year and has since closed.
Stephen McMahon of the Irish Patients Association says further investigations may be needed.
Mr McMahon said: "What we would like is that the Minister to write to the various regulators with a copy of this report.
"We would like for the Medical Council, the Pharmaceutical society of Ireland and an Bord Altranais to review this report to see if there are any important lessons for the profession and indeed for them to have further investigations."
