Hundred jobs may be lost at pharmaceutical plant

There is speculation that around 100 jobs are to be lost at Merck Sharp and Dohme in Brinny in Co Cork.

Staff at the pharmaceutical plant near Inishannon have been called to a meeting at 2pm today at which details will be announced.

It is not clear how the job losses will be achieved.

Merck has a total of seven plants in Ireland - over 450 people are employed at the Brinny site.
