Man rescued from blaze off Cork coast

A man has been rescued off the Cork coast after his motor cruiser went on fire.

He abandoned ship when the incident happened off the old Head of Kinsale just after 2pm this afternoon, and was recovered by a nearby yacht.

The naval vessel, the LE Niamh, has now taken the man on board while he is assessed by medics, but his condition is not thought to be serious.
