Iowa police 'concerned' about gun licences for the blind

At least three people have been issued with gun licences even though their eyesight was so poor they could not read the application form.
A recent change in state law means Iowa can't discriminate on the basis of disability when dealing with public licences.
However disability rights advocates say blind people shouldn't be discriminated against - and that it's possible to train blind people to aim and use a gun safely.
The Des Moines Register, who originally carried the story, quoted Delaware Sherriff John LeClere as saying "I'm not an expert in vision."
"At what point do vision problems have a detrimental effect to fire a firearm? If you see nothing but a blurry mass in front of you, then I would say you probably shouldn't be shooting something."
