The survey shows the number of new professional job vacancies is down by 8% compared to the same time last year.
However, in the year to date, from January to September 2013, there was a 3% increase in jobs coming on to the market compared to the same period last year.
"Through September it's been a reasonably flat month," said Brian Hyland, Operations Director with Morgan McKinley.
"Year on year we've seen a slight decrease in the number of jobs coming to the market while we've seen an increase in candidates."
He said September had started quite slow, but that the number of vacancies on offer had picked up in the second half of the month.
