Obama's economic recovery 'gaining traction' as unemployment rate drops to five year low

The American economy created 236,000 jobs last month.

Figures have also revealed the unemployment rate dropped slightly to 7.7%, meaning it is at its lowest level since the end of 2008.

President Obama's administration says it shows the economic recovery is "gaining traction".
