Bank of England to appoint its first CEO

The Bank of England is to appoint a chief operating officer for the first time in a move that should allow its Governor and Deputy Governors to focus more on policy.

Finance director Warwick Jones also plans to retire after six years in the role in June, at the same time as Governor Mervyn King.
