Chinese shoppers now top purchasers of luxury items

Chinese shoppers have set a new record for sales of personal luxury items.

A new study says they this year became the top luxury buyers, responsible for 25% of global purchases.

Europeans contributed 24% to global sales, Americans 20% and Japanese 14%.

Fondazione Altagamma, Italy's luxury trade association, commissioned the study.
