Aer Lingus passenger numbers up 2.2%

Aer Lingus announced today that total flown passenger numbers, including regional operations, increased by 2.2% to 1,116,000 in August 2012 compared to August 2011.

The firm's mainline's flown passenger load factor in August 2012 increased by 1.6 points on August 2011 to 87.3%.

Short-haul flown load factor was 84.6%, an increase of 1.2 points on August 2011, with capacity decreasing by 1.8%.

Long-haul flown load factor was 93.2%, an increase of 2.4 points on August 2011, with capacity increasing by 4.0% on prior year.

Aer Lingus mainline's total flown passenger numbers in August 2012 were 1,009,000, a decrease of 0.4% compared to August 2011.

Short-haul flown passengers in August 2012 were 906,000, a decrease of 1.2% on August 2011, while long-haul flown passengers in August 2012 were 103,000, an increase of 7.3% on August 2011.

Aer Lingus Regional's total flown passenger numbers in August 2012 were 107,000, an increase of 35.4% compared to August 2011.
