Gilmore in London for Ireland-UK economic talks

Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore is in London today for meetings aimed at strengthening economic cooperation between Ireland and the UK.

This morning, in his capacity as Minister for Trade, Minister Gilmore will host a workshop with business leaders at the Irish Embassy, aimed at opening up commercial opportunities with the UK.

Later, he will deliver an address at King's College in London at the opening of a conference on The Ulster Covenant 1912 - 2012. That event is being supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Trade Reconciliation Fund.

The Tánaiste is then expected to meet representatives of Irish community organisations in the UK, when he will announce over €7m in grants.

He said he is hoping to use the visit to capitalise on the goodwill generated by the successful visit of the Queen last year.
