CSO figures reveal fall in new car sales

The number of private new car sales have fallen significantly during the past year, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office.

The CSO survey found that there were more than 5,400 new cars sold in June of this year which is 40% fewer compared to June 2011, when more than 9,200 new cars were sold.

However, sales for new commercial vehicles has increased during the last year by 3.5%.

Almost a thousand new commercial vehicles were sold in June of this year.
