ISEQ marginally down

The ISEQ index of Irish shares was marginally down following early trading this morning, valued at €2,660.44 at 11.30am for a drop of 5.25 points or 0.20%.

Among the fallers were Paddy Power, down 50c to 16.50; Kerry Group, falling 20c to 16.50; Elan Corp, 18c off at 5.52, and Kingspan, down 10c to 3.90.

Builders' merchants and DIY retailers the Grafton Group were meanwhile down 9c to 2.50 following the announcement of a €450m drop in turnover for the first six months of the year.

Financial stocks were also off the boil, with AIB down 7c to 1.63, Bank of Ireland slipping 2c to 1.51 and Irish Life & Permanent falling 11c to 3.20.

On the risers' board, CRH lifted 34c to 15.87, C&C rose 7c to 2.55 and INM added 2c to 0.26.
