However, investigating officers will not be releasing the man's name until his family have been notified.
The initial discovery of a limb was made by a passerby yesterday afternoon at The Mayne in Clonee and it was taken to Navan hospital for DNA and fingerprint testing.
Searches have been ongoing throughout the day where gardaí discovered further human remains.
The area has been secured and a post mortem is underway.
Gardaí say they are awaiting the results of the post mortem before they can establish the course of their investigation.
