The Behaviour and Attitudes Survey, conducted for the Irish Sun, found 56% said they trusted none of the party leaders to fight for their personal interests.
60% felt the government was giving priority to the IMF, ahead of the needs of Irish citizens.
"We asked these questions to the people of Ireland, and if the Government is doing such a good job, they're certainly not getting the message out there," said Paul Clarkson, editor of the Irish Sun.
"It might be that you've get technical criteria that tell you you're out of recession, but in the street and in people's homes, people are feeling the pinch and not seeing the benefit of the upturn in the economy - and it's going to be quite some time."
