Iman Hamza Dean Wyse (aged 18) spoke only to confirm her name, address and date of birth when she appeared at Thames Magistrates' Court in Bow, east London, today.
She will next appear at London's Snaresbrook Crown Court on October 17 to answer a charge of causing or allowing the child's death.
The little girl, Amani Abdi, was taken to hospital from the defendant's home in Ackroyd Drive, east London, on Friday.
The London Ambulance Service (LAS) contacted police due to the condition of the child in hospital and the baby died shortly after.
Detectives from the homicide and major crime command launched an investigation into the circumstances of the child's death.
Wyse also faces two counts of neglect relating to two other children aged three and 18 months between March 13 and October 4.
District Judge Jane McIvor denied bail.
