Crowne: FG 'lying' over Seanad figures

Speaking at a Newstalk debate on the Senand referendum held in Trinity College today, Senator Crowne rubbished Government claims that scrapping the upper house will save the taxpayer some €20m per year.
"At a corporate level, Fine Gael have lied" he said.
"One of their Senators - Tony Mulcahy - said in print in the last several days that Fine Gael are lying about the €20m figure.
"But that's not the key issue - the issue is much more simple - we desperately need political reform in this country," he added.
"We are all living with the consequences of bad governance over the last 10 to 15 years.
"Our people are dealing with dole queues, with foreclosed mortgages, with ghost estates, empty hearts (and) emigration-ravaged homes."
