CSO figures show rise in tourist numbers coming to Ireland

In the period from June to August this year, the total number of trips to Ireland increased to 2,264,800 when compared to the same period for last year (2,122,800).
The CSO also reported that an additional 142,000 people visited Ireland, when compared to the same period in 2012.
The number of Americans coming here rose by just under 20%.
There was an increase in visitors from Great Britain of 4.7% while trips by residents of other European countries saw a slight rise.
Despite the good summer weather, Irish residents made more than 2.1 million trips abroad, an increase of 3.1% on the same period last year.
