Merkel: no change to Ireland policy after election
on 23/09/2013 14:33:52
Mrs Merkel said Ireland had made impressive progress in getting investors to lower the interest rates for government borrowing.
The chancellor said she was "grateful" to Enda Kenny's government for implementing reforms, which she said Ireland had made of its own accord.
She offered what she called her "highest respect" for Ireland's progress, but said her policy on European economies wouldn't change simply because she won her election.
Merkel's party won a convincing victory yesterday with just under half the vote.
