INMO reveals high number waiting on trolleys in hospitals

Almost 400 people are waiting on trolleys to be admitted to hospitals nationwide today.

According to the Irish Nurses' and Midwives Organisation, the trolleywatch count stands at 399 this afternoon, which is unusually high.

Up to 170 patients are stuck on trolleys in the Eastern region - 46 of them at Beaumont hospital, 33 at St. Vincent's and 27 at Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown, all Dublin.

The remaining 229 are spread around the rest of the country's hospitals.

Thirty-two are at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick, 25 are in Our Lady of Lourdes' Hospital in Drogheda, Co. Louth, and 25 are in University Hospital Galway.
