Teachers threaten to withdraw measures agreed in first Croke Park deal
on 09/03/2013 17:58:19
The Teachers Union of Ireland said that it will consider taking back voluntary and productivity measures as part of the first Croke Park agreement, but says it is not considering strike action at this stage.
Representatives of the TUI, the ASTI and the INTO met in Dublin earlier, to call on members to reject the proposed pay and pension cuts.
Some teachers coming out of today's meeting vowed to fight the cuts, which they say are unfair.
"I think some action will have to be taken," said one teacher.
"We don't know what form that will be, nobody's discussed exactly what that would mean, but we can't take more hits."
