A new Millward Brown survey due to be published in tomorrow's Sunday Independent shows there has been a surge in support for independent TDs and smaller parties, at the expense of Fianna Fail.
This Millward Brown poll shows Fine Gael is now back in first place on 24%, knocking Fianna Fail off the top spot, who are now on 23% support.
Independents and smaller parties gain six points to 22%, while Sinn Féin is up one to 21%.
And there was another disappointing result for Labour - who drop a further two points to 11%.
The poll also found that opinion is divided amongst the electorate as to whether Labour should pull the plug on the coalition - with 34% saying they think Labour should pull out of government while 31% said no.
Twenty eight per cent of those surveyed said they don't know who they would vote for if an election were to take place tomorrow.
