Ikea claims there is no horsemeat in its meatballs

Ikea has said it can find no trace of horsemeat in its Swedish meatballs.

Yesterday, the frozen version of the product was removed from sale in 14 countries after a laboratory in the Czech Republic said it had tested positive for equine DNA.

However, the Swedish furniture giant has said 320 tests carried out by an independent laboratory over the past three weeks have found no trace of horsemeat in the meatballs.

Ikea also said it has unsuccessfully tried to contact the Czech laboratory involved in yesterday's claims.
