Cameron to hold talks with US secretary of state

New US secretary of state John Kerry will hold talks with David Cameron today on his first foreign visit.

Mr Kerry is due in Downing Street on the initial stop of an 11-day "listening tour" that will also take him to Berlin, Paris, Rome, Ankara, Cairo, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi and Doha.

The conflict in Syria, nuclear stand-off with Iran and Middle East peace process are expected to be high on the agenda.

But the Falklands is also likely to come up - with Washington under pressure to recognise the result of a referendum next month on whether the islanders want to remain British.

Mr Kerry, who arrived last night, will hold a press conference with the UK's Foreign Secretary William Hague in London this afternoon.
