Irish shoppers paying up to 35% more for clothes than British counterparts

Irish people are paying up to a third more for clothes than their British counterparts.

The Sunday Business Post retail survey shows that in some cases, clothes prices here are 35% higher than in England.

The survey found Topshop and Monsoon had the highest price differences, while the cost of clothing from Marks and Spencer ranged from 14% to 18% more than what English shoppers were being charged.

The retailers blame high rents, long leases and higher wages for the price differences.
