Frontline workers' rally begins in Tallaght
on 18/02/2013 18:16:02
Nurses, gardaí, firefighters, ambulance drivers and prison officers - who are members of the 24/7 Alliance - say they are being disproportionately hit by government cuts.
Unions representing most of the workers are threatening industrial action if their pay is cut as part of any extension to the Croke Park deal.
These frontline workers in Tallaght this evening say their message to Government is clear:
" We won't stand for a cut to our pay. At this stage, we've already taken 14% of a cut," one said.
Another added: "We've taken our hit so far and I think it's time for everything to be fairly shared."
A young worker said: "Money talks and...we can't allow more cuts - it's simple as."
