State apology 'definitely Taoiseach's intention', says Magdalene survivors spokesman

A group of women held a three-hour meeting with Enda Kenny and Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore this afternoon.
Mr Kenny was accused of a "cop-out" following the report's publication when he said he was sorry for the stigma attached to the women, but stopped short of issuing a full apology on behalf of the state.
He appealed for time to consider the report in full.
"He was very compassionate," said spokesman for Magdalene Survivors Together, Stephen O'Riordan.
"He listened to the women.
"I think that it's definitely his intention to issue a State apology, as far as we're concerned, for what happened in the Magdalene laundries.
"I think from our own perspective, it was a worthwhile meeting, and I think hopefully he'll do the right thing in two weeks' time."
