206 transplants performed in 2012

A total of 206 transplants took place in Ireland in 2012, following the death of 78 registered organ donors.

The figures were compiled by the National Organ Procurement Service in Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

Heart transplants for the year were above average numbers, with 10 operations performed, up from only six in 2011.
