Animal rights group to protest at Dunnes Stores
on 24/01/2013 09:51:05
Rescued dogs will be brought to the demonstration as the group calls on the firm to remove its ban on animal-charity fundraising at its stores.
Protesters will also march down from the head office on South Great George's Street to the local Dunnes Stores on George's Street.
"We are asking Dunnes Stores not to have a cold heart this winter," says ARAN director John Carmody.
"Animals lives are literally depending on the generosity of Dunnes Stores customers, many of whom support their local animal rescue groups. The supermarket needs to engage in dialogue and reinstate store fundraising without delay."
ARAN said that a request for a meeting with Dunnes Stores has so far has gone unanswered.
The group also plans to stage similar demonstrations across the country in the coming days.
