Wintry showers are some further accumulations of snow have been predicted for some areas of the country again tonight.
Snow and ice has led to hazardous driving conditions, particularly in the east of the country - while scores of flights also had to be cancelled earlier today.
John Eagleton from Met Éireann said that the southwest may also see some wintry flurries tonight.
"It's hanging around for most of the working days of this week, and it does get milder over next weekend, at least temperatures rise," he said.
"For this week, we still have that cold air right over us.
"Now as along the east coast we'll be prone to those snow showers coming in off the Irish Sea.
"The frontal systems will skirt the south-west tonight, and there's some uncertainty about them, but it's possible that there could be more snow down there overnight, too."
