Suppliers withdraw products after horse meat found in beef burgers

In a statement, Liffey Meats said the contamination came from imported ingredients that would be replaced before it resumes supplying supermarkets.
While Silvercrest foods has said that it has never traded in horse meat and has begun an investigation into a third party supplier on the continent .
However, the Irish Farmers Association said that the reputation of Irish food must be protected and is calling on the Department of Agriculture to investigate the matter.
The Consumers Association of Ireland said that questions must be raised about the supply chain for food products.
