Iarnród Éireann targets passenger growth with free wi-fi and shorter journey times
on 08/01/2013 08:41:24
Overall, the number of trips made on Irish trains was down by 500,000, from 37.4 million to 36.9 million.
However, Iarnród Éireann said it was encouraged by a strong performance in the second half of 2012.
Spokesman Barry Kenny said a number of new incentives would be introduced to try to win over new passengers.
Free wi-fi has now been installed on all trains, he said, and added that all routes to and from Heuston Station would see journey time improvements of between 10 and 15 minutes from the end of this month.
"With all we believe we will grow passenger numbers in 2013," he said.
