Govt recognition of same sex marriages 'can boost foreign investment'

An equality group is claiming that Government recognition of same sex marriages from abroad can be a factor in boosting direct foreign investment in Ireland.

GLEN, the Gay and Lesbian Equality Network, made the comment after the Justice Minister Alan Shatter announced the recognition of same sex couples who married in a number of jurisdictions, including Denmark and the US state of Washington.

Brian Sheehan of GLEN said it sends positive signals to multinationals who are considering investing in Ireland.
