North's politicians set for emergency meeting as violence continues
on 06/01/2013 12:27:37
Protestant clergy, unionist politicians, community workers and loyalists have called the meeting after police came under attack last night in East Belfast for a third consecutive night.
A crowd of more than 100 people threw bricks and fireworks at officers, as police responded with plastic bullets and water cannons.
One man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after shots were fired at police.
The ongoing unrest was sparked by a decision last month to introduce restrictions on flying the Union Flag at Belfast City Hall.
