Almost a million postpone dental appointments - survey

Almost 80% of dentists have said they have seen an increase in the number of patients presenting with pain, while 93% have noted a rise in extractions.

A further survey found up to a million Irish people are postponing dental appointments, due to cutbacks to State schemes.

According to a Behaviour and Attitudes survey, a third of respondents said they visit the dentist less often, due to cutbacks to the medical card and PRSI dental schemes.
