Three prison officers were injured when between 15 and 20 inmates armed with wood and metal bars became involved in an altercation with the inmates of a cell on December 27, 2009.
One of the men, Leroy Dumbrell of Emmett Road, Inchicore, who was not armed, received a suspended sentence today, due to an extended stay in solitary confinement following the incident, which was later criticised by the High Court.
His four co-accused, Charlie Darcy (aged 24), Zachary Purcell (aged 23), Lee Williams (aged 35) and James Shannon (aged 27), received sentences ranging from one year to 16 months.
All of the defendants pleaded guilty to violent disorder.
A number of other prisoners have already been sentenced for their roles.
