Two killed in L.A shooting

At least two people have been killed in a gun attack in a suburb of Los Angeles.

Downey Fire Department spokesman Jason Patao said the shooting happened just after 11am local time today. He was unsure whether it took place at a business or a nearby home, but two locations may be involved.

Television news helicopters showed crime scenes at a business and in a block of nearby homes.

Police said they were not immediately releasing any further information.

Downey is about 20 miles (32km) south-east of Los Angeles.

Police later said that five people had been shot and at least two had been killed.

Downey police Lieutenant Dean Milligan told KCAL-TV that the shootings happened at a business called United States Fire Protection and at a nearby home, where members of the owner's family live.

Lt Milligan said police were seeking a man who may have driven away after the shootings.
