Teachers to protest against proposed cuts in education

The demonstration is being organised by the three main teaching unions, the ASTI, the TUI and the INTO.
Members will also voice their anger over the lack of equal pay for newly qualified teachers. They say that the pay difference between young teachers and their senior colleagues could reach a €250,000 over the course of their career.
General Secretary of the INTO Sheila Nunan said that there is no room for more education cuts.
"The Programme for Government set out a €77m Budget cut in education again this Budget and there really is very little fat to trim in the education system," she said.
"We're just concerned that it shouldn't fall on frontline services which is the most valuable asset in the system - teachers in front of children in the classroom."
