Locals make knitted wall to highlight campaign for Dodder barriers
on 20/10/2012 14:16:34
Some 192 families were evacuated from their homes in Ballsbridge 12 months ago after the River Dodder burst its banks.
Locals are now creating a symbolic "knitted flood wall" to highlight their campaign.
Knitting squares and rectangles, locals have gathered to create the 40ftx 8ft knitted wall which will be installed along the River Dodder at Beatty's Avenue, Dublin 4 and left in place for the duration of a week to mark the anniversary of October 24, 2011 floods.
A Facebook page has been set up to mark the initiative.
Spokesman Finbar McGrath said residents were feeling vulnerable again in the run up to winter.
