Flood warning issued as 50mm of rain expected

Met Éireann is warning that flooding may occur in some parts of the country as heavy thunderstorms are forecast for tonight.

The south and east of the country will be worst effected, with up to 50 millimetres of rain expected to fall over the next 24 hours.

Dublin City Council said it had closed the flood gates on the river Dodder in the Sandymount/Ringsend area as a precaution.
