GlaxoSmithKline to maintain Sligo plant
on 15/10/2012 09:00:05
Sixty jobs will be lost over the next two years, but 50 new roles will be filled as the company transitions.
GSK is to spend €10m on the plant which currently employs 180 people, upgrading technical expertise and capacity there.
The company says it is making the move, following an in-depth strategic review and taking the flexibility, productivity and commitment of GSK staff in Sligo into consideration.
Staff were informed of the development at a meeting on site early this morning.
GSK employs 1,600 staff across five locations in Ireland.
