Shatter hosting conference on prostitution laws
on 13/10/2012 08:40:13
It comes as the 'Turn off the Red Light' campaign continues to lobby the Government to introduce new legislation here criminalising those who buy sex, while at the same time decriminalising those who sell sexual acts.
Sweden was the first country in the world to introduce such a law, almost 13 years ago.
Detective Simon Häggström from Stockholm Police Department, who is speaking at today's conference, has said prostitution pimps now see Ireland as an attractive place to do business, as the country's laws are too lax.
