Substantial quantity of discarded fish found at Kilmore Quay

Fisheries officers say they found a substantial quantity of fish on board a vessel at Kilmore Quay which had been logged as having been discarded.

The catch has now been quantified and fisheries officers say case files will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Under EU regulations, fishermen are required to discard any fish caught over the quota.

The skipper is also required to log the discarded quantity.
