Ryanair has 'strong chance' with latest Aer Lingus bid

Ryanair says it has a "fairly strong chance" of succeeding in its latest bid for Aer Lingus.

The European Commission is currently reviewing the airline's €694m offer with a decision expected in January.

However the company believes it will be difficult for Brussels to come up with reasons to block the deal.

Ryanair spokesperson Stephen McNamara says every effort is being made to ensure remedies are in place for any stumbling blocks that could arise.

"We will do everything possible to try and get it across the line," he said.

"It's going to be difficult for Brussels this time to come up with reasons to block it."
