Dozen die in Iraq prison

Ten guards and two inmates have died in a jailbreak in Iraq which saw many prisoners, including suspected al Qaida fighters, escape.

The escape came after after clashes lasting hours with security troops inside the jail.

Several convicts broke into a prison storeroom in Tikrit late last night, seized weapons and overpowered prison guards.

By the time security forces regained control, scores of prisoners had escaped.
