French trouble for Facebook

Facebook managers have been hauled before the authorities in France over rumours that some users' privacy has been breached.

A French daily newspaper reported that private messages from 2007 to 2009 were being posted publicly.

Facebook has denied that such messages were appearing on the users' timelines, which can be accessed by a large Internet audience.

But a French minister said doubt remained and urged users to file complaints if they felt their privacy had been violated.
