The 26-year-old mother-of-two was stabbed to death shortly before 9pm at a house in Allendale Glen, in Ongar.
Her two children, who were in the house at the time, were unharmed.
Gardaí want to speak to a man who dropped the victim at the A&E unit of Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where she was later pronounced dead.
The man's white car has already been found by Gardaí but investigating officers are now searching for a red Renault Megane, registration 03LH4081.
The woman's brother, who was also stabbed in the attack, is in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
Superintendent David Taylor of Blanchardstown garda station says the search for the man, who dropped the woman off at the hospital in a white car, is ongoing.
"The driver of this vehicle has already made contact with us and we would appeal to him to come forward to us and talk to us. We believe he might have important information in relation to the investigation.
"We are most anxious as a matter of urgency that he contacts the incident room at Blanchardstown garda station at (01) 666 7032 or the confidential line 1800 666 111.
